Classic American TV Families

Watch the following clips from favorite American television shows of the 1950s and 1960s  and think about the following:
  • How do these families represent the traditional family as described in American Ways?
  • How are these families different from American families in the 21st century?

Homework for May 16

Doing this homework correctly and carefully will help you improve skills you will need in every college class you take:  the ability to express your ideas coherently and clearly and the ability to comprehend and answer what the teacher is asking you.  Use this time to help yourself!

Chapter 8:  General Understanding  http://www.hostos.cuny.edu/oaa/book/book2/guidejl26.htm
Chapter 9:  Expressing Agreement or Disagreement  http://www.hostos.cuny.edu/oaa/book/book2/guidejl30.htm

  1. PLEASE DO NOT TURN IN ANYTHING TO ME THAT YOU WOULD NOT TURN IN TO YOUR WRITING TEACHER OR TO A COLLEGE TEACHER!  Take time to proofread before you print.  I expect to see punctuation, capital letters, verb endings, etc.
  2. It's great if you talk about the questions with other students, but your answers must be in your own words.  Do not copy directly from the book unless you have to.  If you do, use "quotation marks."   If you work with another student, your answers may have the same content, but not the same words.
  3. Make sure you read the whole question and answer every part of the question.
